Snoring is a snoring problem

Snoring has haunted a person since time immemorial. There is an erroneous theory according to which people allegedly inherited a primitive instinct that makes them emit terrible sounds in their sleep in order to scare dangerous animals away from their homes. Currently, such an “instinct” gives others only discomfort. Isn’t it surprising that snoring turns people sharing one bedroom? in cruel enemies, violates harmony in the family, leads to divorce.

From time to time, snoring bothers everyone. This is called light or irregular snoring. It occurs when a person comes tired after hard work, falls into bed immediately after a hearty dinner and, plunged into the deepest sleep, begins to snore. It is enough to wake him up, turn him over on his side, and the snoring will go away. Temporary snoring also occurs after drinking alcohol, taking sleeping pills, etc.

Truly snoring people, whose snoring is constant, sometimes do not rush to admit their lack. They cannot hear themselves and often believe that the problem does not exist. According to numerous surveys conducted on the basis of a questionnaire, persistent snoring occurs in 30% of the adult population.

Many people perceive snoring as an unpleasant but harmless sound phenomenon. Unfortunately, this is not so. Snoring is a harbinger or one of the manifestations of a very dangerous disease of respiratory arrest during sleep ( obstructive sleep apnea syndrome ). Apnea syndrome is characterized by snoring, snoring, and respiratory arrest during sleep. Especially this complication of snoring is typical for patients suffering from overweight with the development of obesity of 2-3 degrees.

With this disease, symptoms such as awakening from lack of air, restless sleep, sweating at night, unrefreshing sleep, fatigue in the morning, headaches at night and after getting out of bed, memory loss, decreased performance, constant daytime sleepiness, especially in the afternoon, are noted. These symptoms are the result of a constant lack of oxygen to the brain. The disease carries risks for the cardiovascular system, provokes arterial hypertension, heart attacks, arrhythmias, and strokes.

It is possible to distinguish between two conditions – uncomplicated snoring and apnea syndrome – only after conducting a study of night sleep (polysomnography). Polysomnography records the parameters of snoring, breathing, heart, brain, and muscle activity. After deciphering the data from this study, one can accurately talk about the risks of snoring and plan the optimal treatment.
